Different from the cool stereotypes in most of the hospitals, the image of large forest, derived from the ideas in the mineral works from Natsuki Soseki, is shown on the wall at the reception counter, the design as if the poetic scenery seen in traditional ink landscape paintings. In traditional Chinese medicine, the body of a human being is viewed as a complete life. The philosophy, of the traditional Chinese medicine that diagnoses patients from the big picture to the details, concentrates particularly on the harmony between Yin and Yang, and on the circulation of blood. “Xi Ci Zhuan,” the work from Conficious, a great thinker and educator in Chinese history, said that “The changes generate Tai Chi. Tai Chi generates two complementary forces. The two complementary forces generate four aggregates. The four aggregates generates eight trigrams.” In addition to express the philosophy that the Yin lives in Yang, and Yang lives in Yin, by using the images of white and black fishes, the interactions between these two fishes are taken as the ideas of design when planning the configuration in this clinic, the design that reach the ultimate physical and mental balances throughout the transformation between Yin and Yang, in the first and second examination rooms.
Because a large space for medical treatment is required in this clinic, the utilization of mirrors and mirrors, with the penetration effects, resolves the issue of limited space. Moreover, the lightings on the ceiling and the European-style furniture adorn the interior space in which the special variations made from the integration of western and Chinese medicine that creates the finishing touch in this clinic. The adornment of horse heads, at the both side of the main entry, balances the whole dynamic and static visual effect.
Feng-Min Chou, the designer of this clinic, indicates that both the husbands and wife, the directors of this clinic, have medical degrees in western and Chinese medicine, so that ideas of design is taken from Tai Chi, the philosophy of Tai Chi in Qing dynasty, that the basic interior colors of black and white, brown and green, and gold that express the simple style, which symbolizes the images of greenery mountain and vivid four seasons.
